Innovative technology meets world cultural heritage

The four-star Hotel Alixares is in the centre of Granada's old town, directly opposite the city's breathtaking Alhambra Palace. The clean aesthetics of the solar collectors from the Tyrolean solar heating specialist TiSUN make a striking contrast next to the Alhambra or "Red Castle" designated World Heritage Site.

The TiSUN FA large collectors have been mounted freestanding on the roof of the hotel. The installers Assyce Ingenieros calculated this to be the most efficient place for them. Two metres in height and with a total surface area of 400 m2, the solar collectors supply hot water and support the heating and pool heating. The collectors relay the sun's energy to the four Pro-Clean® solar stratified tanks with spherical exchangers. The four tanks hold 20,000 litres of hot water in total which they supply to, among other things, 171 guest bathrooms.

"The large collectors enabled the project to be realised quickly and ensure maximum efficiency. The TiSUN large collectors are subject to real-time system monitoring" say the Assyce Ingenieros installers regarding the Alixares project.

By installing the TiSUN large flat collectors FA to replace other products, the hotel saves 52,700 litres of oil a year. This corresponds to a solar profit contribution of 40 percent. The collectors also protect the environment by saving emissions of 143,746.3 kg CO2 per year.

The Hotel Alixares belongs to the Porcel hotel chain and in addition to the usual hotel infrastructure also features a restaurant serving traditional cuisine, a bar and conference and congress facilities.
