The residents of the care home in Melgaço use the power of the portuguese sun for hot water heating. The sun shines in Portugal on average 3.000 hours a year. Portugal is one of the sunniest regions in Europe. 25 module collectors were installed on the flat roof. Matching to it the care home took a solar stratified tank Pro-Clean®.

In keeping with their guiding principle, "Where medicine serves people and nature still has a voice", the Laas state hospital in Kötschach, Kärnten is now equipped with a solar system. In this hospital, the sun's energy serves the people. The 28 solar collectors in standard and custom sizes were integrated into the roof for optimum effect and support the patients' recovery with the warmth of the sun.

After the EU publicised its intention to support renewable energies for heating and cooling, it is now leading by example: a solar heating system for heating service water was incorporated into the EU parliament site in Brussels. The solar system supplies hot water for 54 showers and for the parliament canteens. However, the system is large enough to supply 79 showers, should the EU parliament be expanded.
